Prior to Repairs
  1. Notify your insurance company immediately.  Provide them with the details of the incidents and location of your vehicle.  Find out if your policy covers “loss of use” and/or if you are entitled to a rental
  2. As the owner of the vehicle, you have the right to choose any repair shop you wish.
  3. It is not mandatory to take your vehicle to a drive-in claims service.  Call your insurance company and tell them where the vehicle can be examined by the claims person.
  4. Reliable repair facilities stand behind their work.  Beware of the shop that does not offer a written warranty
During
  1. Most insurance companies will send a check directly to the body shop for the repairs.  You would endorse this check upon picking up your vehicle and pay any applicable deductible.
  2. Make sure repair shop will keep in contact with you and let you know of any additional damages.
After
  1. Avoid brush style car washes
  2. Use cleaners designed for automotive finishes.  Household detergents and dish soap should be avoided.
  3. You can wash your car right after repairs
  4. Do not wax your vehicle for at least 90 days
